30 Day Challenge - 22. 10 things about you people don't really expect.

Oh blimey 10 things?  This might be tricky but I'll give it a go.

1.  I'm studying theatre design (set, props etc.)

2.  I'm writing my dissertation on puppets.

3.  I'm doing a research project on armour, specifically medieval.

4.  I'm currently sat here listening to Steps.

5.  I love horse riding.

6.  I want to live in the countryside one day.

7.  My dream house would have a library, with a spiral staircase!

8.  The most played song on my iTunes is "That's How You Know" from Enchanted.

9.  I have a small collection of My Little Pony toys.

(L-R: G1 Bowtie, G1 Surprise, G1 Baby Tiddlywink, G3 Minty, G1 Gusty, G1 Posey, G1 Cherries Jubilee and G1 Boysen Berry Pie.  Yes I am that sad...)

10.  I hate scary films, unless they're classics like The Omen, but I love reading scary books.  Currently reading this one...

(It's taken me 3 days to write this!!!  I suck...)

Theatre

So I just went through and looked at my posts and I've realised I've not mentioned theatre properly in any of them.  I'm kind of disappointed in myself, especially as that's what I'm studying at university!

To resolve that and make myself feel a little better I'm going to show you some pictures from a show I did earlier this year called "The Importance of Being Earnest".  I designed the set for this show and had to do it by recycling pieces that we already had at the university as we only had around a £300 budget for the entire show.

Anyway I'll start off with some close up pictures of the set pieces, all I did with them was modify them a little (take bits off that I didn't want, fill in holes etc.) and then paint them.  I ended up with a team of very talented painters (mainly the cast) who I couldn't have done it without!

This window is totally wrong for the type of house this is supposed to be but, like I said before, I had to work with what was already at the university.  The picture that you can see in the window is actually a photo I took in the local park.  I'll try and remember where I saved those pictures and I'll do another blog post with them in.

I also painted the fire place, which you'll see in the photos below, but I'm not putting any close up pictures of it on here because I honestly don't like it.  I would do it so differently now, but I guess that all just part of the learning experience.

I don't think the pictures quite do it justice but at least now you've all had a little insight into what I do while I'm at university.

My life is...

Kinda weird at the moment!  I've been making a box/basket all week for this show.  Stupid thing kept falling a part, clearly it hates me.  Thankfully it's all in one piece now.  I've also made some antlers for the show.

You can make anything out of wire and paper mache!  These antlers are now painted and attached to a headband.  Got some funny looks carrying them on the bus on the way home!  Hehe.

Had some pretty freaky dreams last night too.  I was in NYC for some reason, even though I've never actually been there, and then I was watching season 3 of Glee but they'd killed off Blaine.  Next thing I know there's an escaped giant racoon running loose and trying to attack people!  Then it turned into a giant red panda, which looked more like a Sylvanian Families toy than a real animal.  Then I woke up!

On a completely different, yet pretty awesome, note I was awarded the Butterfly Award by Rachael at Island Girl Insights!

Rules Of Award
1. Write a random fact about yourself
2. Pass The Award On
3. Notify The Bloggers Who Got It

Ok so a random fact about me... I love video games!!!  Especially old ones.  Or Nintendo ones.  Or Lego ones.  Or The Sims.

Er unfortunately I don't really know that many bloggers and the 2 people I want to give this award to have already received it but hey ho, they can have it twice! :)  I give this award to Rachael at Island Girl Insights and Amy at Caterpillar is Very Hungry.

Note to self.

Always always ALWAYS look where you're going.  No matter what you're trying to do.  Even if you are taking a picture, however pretty the picture, nothing is worth injuring yourself.

However saying this I will continue to be an incredibly clumsy person.

I am currently working on a production of The Merry Wives of Windsor which is taking place next week so that's why I've not updated this blog as much.  It's being performed at Lanercost Priory which is a beautiful ruined abbey about 20 mins away from Carlisle.  Now I shall explain my minor rant at the beginning.  I was taking some pictures of the stage area as it's going to be performed outside.  As I was taking one of these pictures I managed to forget there were some steps next to me and went flying down them sideways.  I think I've sprained my wrist from the fall but I did get a pretty picture in the end!
